Major Successes
Because of the high caliber of oncology scientists and clinicians that work at Princess Margaret, many of the clinical trials launched from this centre are national or international in scope.
In an analysis of 245 trials conducted just for the year 2007, thirteen were international trials led by Princess Margaret investigators.
These include trials of new life-saving drugs for advanced prostate, pancreatic, lung and colon cancers, as well as drugs to help manage the often severe side effects of chemotherapy (e.g., anemia and vomiting).
If you would like to read more about clinical trials, or find out about trials that are currently running, both the National Cancer Institute and the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research have very good Web sites and online searchable databases.
